Christmas Holidays in Rome
The Christmas holidays in Rome begin with the lighting of the Christmas tree this year in a new location: Piazza del Popolo. The appointment for the official inauguration is set for Friday 8 December 2023 at 6.00 pm on the occasion of the Feast of the Immaculate Conception. In via del Corso the illuminations recalling the theme of peace are already ready, with the word repeated in different languages to decorate the street corners.
Many initiatives for adults and children: the appointment on 9 December in Piazza Navona for the decoration of the Tree of Peace.
On 8, 17 and 24 December, travel on the capital’s public transport network will be free. For the whole day (from 0.01 to midnight) you can travel for free on the Atac network.
There will be 5 Christmas markets in Rome: Piazza Mazzini, Largo San Giovanni De Matha in Trastevere, the Testaccio market, in Piazza Risorgimento from 8 to 10 December, and in Piazza Vittorio.
‘Christmas World’, the Christmas village returns to the Galloppatoio of Villa Borghese from December 1st 2023 to January 7th 2024.
In Piazza Navona until January 6th, artisan and institutional stands, shows, concerts and activities dedicated to children.
